Shouchiku(1973) with his momumental art in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Shouchiku Tanabe has inherited the Japanese tradition of bamboo art from his ancestors. His great grandfather was the first bamboo artist in Japan. As a small child he started learning bamboo art from his father. Later he graduated from Craft and Art Educations, but he continues working and exhibiting with his family.
